In 2013, a committee of six Tennison members, with approval from the Board of Trustees and guidance from Reverand Cline, began planning the addition of a Memorial Garden and Columbarium to our campus. After much research, planning and fundraising, the project was completed in 2015.
The Memorial Wall is in remembrance of those interred elsewhere. Names on the Memorial Wall will remind us of those who have touched us, inspired us, loved us and according to the Bible “still surround us as a body of saints”.
This beautiful addition to our church provides a peaceful, reverent location to pray and remember our loved ones.
A columbarium is a permanent structure made up of spaces (niches) where urns containing the ashes (cremains) may be placed. The word ‘columbarium’ is derived from the Latin term columba meaning “dwelling place of a dove”. The dove has long symbolized in Christian tradition the embodiment of the Holy Spirit. The columbaria provide an opportunity to choose the shadow of the church as a final resting place.
